When you become so physically and mentally overwhelmed by stress on the job that you want out, burnout has set in. You can lower your chances of getting burned out by recognizing the causes and symptoms of stress and taking preventive action.

Left unaddressed, burnout may result in a number of outcomes including:

  • Reduced job satisfaction
  • Decreased productivity
  • Increased absenteeism
  • Increased risk of accidents
  • Poor workplace morale
  • Communication breakdown
  • Increased turnover
